Brides with bob hairstyle or other similar haircuts can surely opt for this hairstyle. This hair style incorporates the smooth waves and offers you a look of some movie star from the 40's. Finding the Right Wedding Hair Style

By: Charish Hoover - California Weddings

It is wise to go to a local salon, and have your hair done by a professional months in advance to your wedding day. Perhaps having several styles done at separate appointments would be best. This may sound like a lot of trouble, but when you think about how much money and research time you are or will be investing in choosing your perfect wedding dress, bridal shoes, bridal jewelry, and other bridal accessories, a little time and ~ yes money! invested in your bridal hairstyle decision makes a lot of sense!

When trying out a hairstyle, be sure to do the following:

1. Be sure to take your veil, jewelry, and other accessories with you to the salon, so you can see the entire look together.

2. When the look is all put together, ask yourself:
(a) Does this hairstyle flatter my face shape, and features?
(b) Does this hairstyle compliment my veil, jewelry, accessories?
(c) Does this hairstyle match the appeal of my wedding dress, and what I want to convey on my wedding day? (ie. formal, semi-formal, more casual)
(d) More importantly, do I feel good about myself with this hairstyle?

Hair stylist believe that the hair is the woman’s crowing glory. This is especially true to a bride. Although she wants her wedding to be perfect in all aspects, how her hair is done will definitely say it all. Everybody will be looking at her and she will be the center of attention. She has to look fabulous.

The following are some of the bridal hair styles one can choose from on her special day:

Polished Updo – is perfect for women who wants to look glamorous and immaculate with all the hair elegantly tied up.

Loose Messy Updo – the hair is also tied up but some curls are allowed to flow freely to give that care-free spirit for the bride. This is an option to the polished updo.

Long Smooth Curls – this simple but attractive style is best for beach weddings where all your curls just flow freely with the wind.

Short and Sassy Wedding Cut – best accentuated with a floral headband, this cut is for those who prefer the happy-go-lucky style and is less facy to fashion. Accessories add up to enhancing this style.

Bridal Side Ponytail – the bridal side ponytail is always perfect for that girlish look. This is an option for those brides who do not want either the updo nor the simple down do.

Australia is beset with a number of professionals who do bridal hair styles. Coffs Harbour offers its own wealth of globally competitive hair stylist who can turn one simple and wishful lady into a princess walking down the aisle with glamour and confidence.

Being that I have worked as a wedding professional since 1991, and started out as a wedding photographer for many years, I've seen a lot of brides, their wedding dresses, hair styles, makeup jobs, etc.

With that said, I've seen some very beautiful brides who needed little to no help with their appearance on their wedding day, and of course the opposite as well.

Regardless of your genetics, YOU as the bride owe it to yourself, and your groom to make every effort possible to look your very best on your special day. Likewise, the groom has the same responsibilities to both you, and himself.

Most brides want their wedding ceremony decor, and their reception decor to be unique, spectacular, memorable, etc., , , so - it only makes sense that a bride would take the same level of care, and interest in her own appearance on her wedding day.

Things that are often overlooked or undervalued when it comes to the bride's appearance are:

1. Facial and nose hair - Yes, in my years as a wedding photographer, I've seen far more protruding nose and facial hairs on brides than I care to admit. Not only was detail very important to me as the photographer, but how does one tell the bride on her most special day, , , "Um, you've gotta hair coming out of your nostril." , or "In this lighting, I can see every hair on your upper lip, and chin." Needless to say, I never said these things, but simply did my best to re-pose or position my view from the lense that would best flatter or hide the issue at hand.

Solution? Waxing and plucking has never killed anyone, and for the sake of your wedding day appearance, photos, video, etc., , , , I'd say a little pain would be worth it ;-) Also, contrary to what some may believe, waxing will not cause more coarse hairs to grow back in, , , it's actually quite the opposite, as the waxed/plucked hairs will likely be replaced with softer, finer hairs. (See Also THREADING Below)

2. Messy, bushy, eyebrows - Both the bride and groom should pay extra attention to this area of their face. Eyebrows are frames to the eyes, and unruly, bushy eyebrows can make a huge difference in the overall appearance of the upper half of the face. Eyebrows can make you look more alert, more youthful, or tired, and quite simply worn out.

Solution? We've all seen these new mall kiosk businesses that offer eyebrow threading! I highly recommend that this be considered at least a couple of days before your wedding, but only after you've had a trial run by the same business, and individual approx. 2 months prior to make sure you like the shaping, results, etc.

Makeup & Hair - Far too many brides (in my opinion) skimp on having their makeup and hair professionally done. The reason for this of course is to "save money", , , , but at what expence really? Their appearance? The difference between a professionally made-up bride, and a self-done makeup job by the bride is often like night and day. If you're going all out on the cake, flowers, and decor, why would you put yourself on the back burner? Remember this is supposed to be a once in a life-time event, , , so don't treat yourself like you're not important for a once in a life-time knock out bridal look!

Skin Care (and I mean everywhere on your body) - A dry bride is a dull bride, and whether we're looking at your face, your arms, and legs, or your feet, nobody wants to see a bride with dry, dull skin.

Solution? Start a total-body skin care regimen several months prior to your wedding day. Let's call it a skin fitness routine. This routine should include exfoliation of the skin a minimum of one time per week. My personal favorite exfoliating product is (St. Ives Exfoliating Apricot Scrub "Invigorating") as it gives the skin a great scrub, and leaves it feeling smooth, and fresh. Be sure to wear sunscreen after using any exfoliating product. Also remember to include a great overall body moisturizer right after getting out of the shower to keep skin smooth. On the wedding day - try a cream oil based moisturizer to give your arms, legs, and feet a smooth, healthy sheen. Just for fun - add a tiny bit of glitter gel or powder to your feet to give them a sexy shimmer. A mild glittery/bronzing powder can be added (in moderation) to your arms, legs, shoulders etc., but only if it matches your skin tone. Again a professional makeup artist would be beneficial in this area.

Nails, on hands and Feet - My personal favorite is the French Manicure on both hands and feet. This is a clean, classy look that will match any wedding dress, as well as hair, and makeup job. A lot of brides focus on their hands, but neglect their feet. Feet can be and should be a sexy addition to your wedding day look, just remember to include your feet in the above mentioned skin care regimen, and DO get that French Manicure for the toes!

Solution? Don't do a manicure job yourself, and don't simply go with the cheapest deal in town. Few things would be more embarrassing on your wedding day than to see your nails flying off during your ceremony, or any time during your special day.

Wedding Hairstyles

It can very difficult & confusing deciding which hairstyle would be perfect for your wedding day . By comparison choosing your dress was easier. You’ve probably thumbed through endless pages of magazines, read countless articles which tell you ‘wear it up’, ‘wear it down’, ‘go natural’, ‘go formal’ & at the end of it all you are still none the wiser!

Well, help is at hand - the following information should be all you need to make an informed decision about the right style for your big day.

Staying True to You

The key to success with your whole bridal outfit, not just your hair, is to maintain your identity. I have mentioned in many articles about all aspects of your wedding planning, that your wedding should be a reflection of your own tastes, style & personality. Your wedding hairstyle & indeed your whole outfit, is no different. It is a common bridal mistake to go all out for glamour or that special once in a life time look, but it nearly always ends with you looking in the mirror just not recognizing the person looking back at you.

Of course you should go for something a bit special on your wedding day, but the best advice is to stick to something that you actually like. After all you didn’t choose your wedding dress because the shop assistant told you they liked it or because they said it was the style all the celebrities are wearing at the moment , did you?

When it comes down to it, there isn’t really any right or wrong answers when selecting wedding hairstyles , but there are a few tips you can follow to help you narrow down your choices.

Plan Then Plan Some More

Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming experience. There is just so much to organize, book, hire, coordinate & schedule. What began as one of the most exciting phases in your life can end with feeling totally exhausted by the time the big day comes around.

But whether your wedding is a huge formal affair or a small casual & intimate party, chances are you will be putting together a wedding plan, either paper based in a notebook or on your computer with some nifty software. Whatever your planning style make sure your hairstyle is on the list. You will need to start to think about it earlier than you imagine. You will need time to consider your choices, find a good stylist (if you don’t intend on doing it yourself), purchase any accessories such tiaras, veils, combs & pins & finally book appointments to try out styles till you find the perfect one.

Be Your Beautiful Self

Fabulous hair on our wedding day is something we all dream of, but many brides will take it too far. They will feel that they must match the style of the beautiful model on the front cover a magazine, with her long golden tresses perfectly manicured into cascades of curls. Trying to imitate a look which is so far removed from your own everyday style can be a recipe for disaster.

If you have short hair & you want to grow it for the wedding then go ahead, but be aware of the timeframe here, do you have enough time to let it grow to the length you want? But think carefully, will it make you look more ‘blushing bride’ than you do already? Confidence is everything when it comes to your ability to pull a look off. If you feel confident & comfortable with the way you look, you will carry it off to perfection. If you don’t it will be immediately obvious & could spoil your day. The best advice? - go as yourself, that way you are certain to look great!

Stay Cool & Communicate

It isn’t just your own hair that you should consider, but that of your attendants as well. You may trust them to make the perfect choices for their hairstyles or you might want to pick something for them yourself. Whatever, your feelings on this, it is important that you talk with them about their hairstyles & your own. It is a good way to bounce ideas off each other & come up with a coordinated look that is complimentary to everyone. If you are paying for a stylist to do everyone’s hair then arrange appointments for a time when you can all attend & run through some options. The stylist should also be able to guide you & give you some good advice & ideas.

Keep to the Theme

If you are having a specific theme for your wedding then it is important to choose a hairstyle that will fit with it. A 60’s beehive won’t look right if your wedding theme is a glamorous 1930’s art deco affair. You don’t have to choose a style that is an exact replica of one from the period, but one that is evocative of it. Let your stylist know what your theme is & the style you want to evoke, they will be able to guide you & make some suggestions.

Let the Gown Be Your Guide

When you picked your wedding flowers, you will have told the florist the style of your gown, the fabric it is cut from & the texture of it. Armed with this knowledge your florist will have set to work designing a bouquet that is the right size, shape & weight to fit with your dress. The same should be considered when choosing your hairstyle. Give some consideration to the silhouette of your gown; your hairstyle needs to match the line of the dress. For example, a formal updo piled high on the top of your head would best suit a large formal ballgown style dress, where as a sleek poker straight style would best suit a slender, sheath style dress.
